The tactic at the moment is to not follow the other chickens with their ridiculous and frightening "run to the people house and see if there's any dog food left" tactic, but rather go ninja like from bush to bush and hide. Progress though.

I am fairly sure that Manzanita is a California Native Shrub, so it was a surprise for me to see one in that photo, but come to think of it I have found Spanish Figs in the back-country here in California as well as Asian Blackberries and European Fennel so it is not surprising that Manzanita would have migrated to Spain.

I think you might be right. I am looking closer and the bark of the tree/shrub in the photo does not have the distinctive red, smooth bark that Manzanita does.

Beautiful plant.
Vegetation in the Mediterranean area of Spain has similar characteristics to the coastal area of California. And the plants adopt similar strategies this is the reason because they look alike

Too true, and we have a chicken 'granja' next door to us. 15,000 day old chicks arrive, and exactly 7 weeks later they are removed at the dead of night for processing elsewhere.

Cannot bring ourselves to buy chicken here now.

I hope you can survive the blow. Yesterday I was on 15-23 shift we had like 20 reservations and more than 30 cancellations. Most of the reservations for May and later. Most of the cancellations for now till June. . My bosses are even more hysteric than usual.

@els Mussols As I stated some time ago, "busy November" not only happened but turned into "busy November and first half of December". Olive harvesting is all consuming and exhausting, it precludes all non-essential activities. But, we're done. We did three harvests in total and ended up with our best-ever harvest in terms of both kilograms of fruit and litres of oil. This is despite this being a below average year according to the mill. The oil is good.

Some stats (in the form: olive mass | oil volume | oil/olive percentage):
Harvest I: 556.0kg | 116l | 21.8% -- thanks to Ben, Ceils, Gianna, Iker, Jay, Katie, Sarah and Yannic.
Harvest II: 467.0kg | 90l | 19.3% -- thanks to Ben, Broc, Jay and Rabbit.
Harvest III: 481.5kg | 108l | 22.4% -- thanks to Ben, Broc and Rabbit.
Total: 1,504.5kg | 314l | 20.9%

Massively pleased.

As is normal in November, life is chaotic. Having a server meltdown the day before Olive Harvest I (which was successful) was suboptimal. Olive Harvest II starts tomorrow, so I'll be intermittent until Sunday probably and will try to get things back on track as soon as possible.
